STROKE UNIT AND STROKE CENTRE CERTIFICATION

MENA Stroke Organization (MENASO) aims at increasing the quality of stroke care in the MENA region by connecting all the components of acute stroke care into a smoothly integrated system. Hospitals across the MENA region are encouraged to apply for a MENASO Stroke Unit or Stroke Centre certification.

MENASO / ASA together provides two advanced levels of certification for stroke programs in hospitals:

  • Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification (CSC)
  • Primary Stroke Center Certification (PSC)

Benefits

  • MENASO focuses on the effectiveness of stroke management. This contributes to the establishment of a high standard of quality in stroke care. The Stroke Center Care paradigm ensures that patients will receive the proper level of care in each case.
  • Becoming a Stroke Center will involve a significant investment for some hospitals, but will provide benefits for patients and the hospitals.
  • PSC or CSC are important components of a Stroke System of Care which will promote a flexible system that can adapt and fit a variety of regional and geographic scenarios.
  • Improved outcomes will reduce the financial burdens on government and health care systems.
  • A dispassionate review of clinical excellence; MENASO Auditors have extensive experience in stroke treatment, offer knowledgeable counsel, and adhere to predetermined evaluation standards based on MENASO criteria to build a stroke unit and stroke center.
